Why Should Change the Movie Title Dandupalya? Why Not Name of the Village?

“Why can’t you change the name of your village as Florida?”

This could be one of the funniest ever sentence told by the court. This happened during the public interest litigation filed by the villagers of Dandupalya, a village in Hoskote, near Bangalore to change the name of the title of the Kannada film Dandupalya.

Villagers claimed that the movie Dandupalya, pictured the notorious gang from the village Danduplaya which involved in robbery and murder later sentenced to death, impacts the image of the village. They also informed the court that due to these few criminals from the village, the whole village has got bad name and the villagers are suffering. Youngsters from the village are not getting seats in the colleges. It has become difficult for the villagers to get married due to the notoriety of the gang identified with the name of their village Dandupalay. They claimed the movie will further worsen the situation.

 “Why can’t you change the name of your village as Florida,” a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B.V. Nagarathna observed in a lighter vein, The Hindu reported on 29 June 2012.

Madan Patel directed movie Nityanada is also facing title dispute raised by the supportersof self portrayed god-man Swami Nityananda and Nithyananda Dhyana Peetam. Next time I wish it could be Swami Nityanada to get his name changed to protect himself from the impact of the movie Nityananda.

9 VTU colleges in The Week’s top 100 Engineering Colleges

12 of India's top 100 engineering colleges are in Karnataka

Karnataka has its own name in the quality engineering colleges. Bangalore is always a favorite choice for the technology education. The Week, India’s leading weekly has published the list of 100 top engineering colleges in the country in its June 17, 2012 issue. 12 institutions of Karnataka have secured their place in the list. Out of 12 best engineering colleges in Karnataka, 9 are affiliated to VTU. Other three intuitions are National Institute of Technology (NITK), Surathkal at 15^th place, University Visweswaraya College of engineering at 37^th place and Manipal Institute of Technology Manipal at 38^th place. The 9 best engineering colleges in Bangalore and Karnataka according to The Week which are affiliated to VTU (some are autonomous) are as follows:

In my personal view the list may interchange. But definitely all are good colleges and felt the The Week- Hansa research survey is fair. Even the ranking may change engineering stream wise. One should also enquire about department in a particular college before taking an admission into it. A best college may a bad department. Thankfully few institutions like New Horizon college of Engineering which used to advertise as India’s second best college through a result of paid survey have not made entry into list to misguide the students. Surprisingly very few colleges of Tamil Nadu are in the list though it has a huge number of engineering colleges. Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has the highest best affiliated colleges.

Mangalore Airport: Scary but Awesome

Mangalore Airport is still in the memory of many for the worst accident that happened a year ago. Many of you know that it is a table top airport. It is situated at the top of the hill surrounded by the greenery, adjacent to the river, one can add it into ‘the must’ list.

The airport is about 20 km from Mangalore city. The best way to reach the airport is to hire a city taxi. The cost of the taxi will be based on your bargaining capacity. There is easy availability of the taxi from the airport and airport. If you don’t have much luggage to carry with you, you can reach through buses which go to Bajpe or Kateel. There are plenty of buses in this rout. You can get down at Kenjaru, from where the airport is at walk able distance and also autos available. From Kenjaru main road to airport, the hairpin curves will give the thrill of reaching one of the table top airports in the world.

It was the bright sunny day when I had been there. The visibility was very good. Sitting beside the window, I was able to see the hills at the long distances as soon as I boarded the flight. The flight started moving along the new run way. The flight was not taking up the speed for few minutes. I was little scared as taking off and landing are very crucial in case of table top airports. It can fall from the hill if it was not speeded up and taken off properly. I saw the rear right wheel taking u turn and started moving towards runway again. It took up the speed. The wheels left the ground and got covered inside. I was just looking at the ground, the ground was very nearer. Within seconds it was at the end of the runway, needless to tell it was the end of the hill. The flight was at the hundreds of meters from the ground. It took a turn flying over the river. I was flying on the coconut gardens. Saw the river kissing the Arabian Sea in the green background. Small islands formed in the river were looking like green dots in the big greenish blue line.

The flight fled along the seashore. It started flying on the Western Ghats. The range of green hills at the Kuduremukh Reserve Forest was like the beautiful design drawn by the creator. The Sahyadri hill series was an odyssey of the fully dark green forest and the wide lands of brownish grass. These hills one attached to another were looking like they are sitting holding one’s hand another. This was an memorable experience.

I can just say flying from Mangalore International Airport is more worth than the scare one can experience after the 2010 mishap.

Kannada films are now Sakkath Hot Maga

It seems Kannada heroines and the film industry is following the trends of Bollywood. Vidya Balan has given a new zeal to it in her Dirty Picture. There are numerous item songs which made the viewers hot in recent past. Some heroine goes nude, another shows her bare back, or posed in bikini for a calendar were common news in the gossip pages. But now the trend has reached the south, that too Kannada film industry. The two recent controversies are the examples:

Pooja Gandhi Nude for Dandupalya(?): Pooja Gandhi, who is famous for her well-known movie Mungarumale shows her completelbare back in her new film Dandupalya. She tells that the story needed such scene. Whom to ask whether the story would have lost its effect if that scene is modified? She also tells that she did not go nude for shooting that scene. Instead she was wearing a saree and was covering her breast in the saree while shooting. But a tabloid in Kannada has reported that she went nude while shooting the scene. It is also reported that she said she has no qualms in going nude quoting the examples of some hot actress in the Bollywood. So Kannada industry has starting another trend that is borrowed from Bollywood.

Rishika Singh Nude(?): Yaaradre Nanagenu is another movie which has created a new sensation in Bangalore. The movie also has super hot Mallika Sherawat. The posters of the movie has irked the woman's organisations and several social groups. Here Rishika Singh, daughter of welknown Kannada director Rajendra Singh Babu said to be gone nude. Though the actress is not nude in the posters, but the graphic effect which shows the actress covered in mud creates the feeling she is nude. The story is of a girl who is buried in mud and she wakes up from it and takes revenge. The scene is shot in Jaipur.

Instead of giving importance to bikinis, cleavages, bare backs and nude scenes Kannada movies has to be improved in their qualities to match with other south Indian languages. Otherwise if the present scenario continues, it can only become a b-grade movie industry.

Private Banks, Money Laundering and Frauds

Sri K. Kashivishwanath did not know that he owned a mining company. He was unaware of the continuous transactions of crore of Rupees taking place in his bank accounts. Lokayukta reports read "it has been observed that crores of rupees have been deposited in banks and also withdrawn in cash from these accounts. Such illegal money transactions have been further trailed/proceed to accounts in bank of various persons/companies/firms and others."

The same banks which creates an image that they follow a strict KYC norms by asking tens of documents for changing correspondence address legally supports illegal money laundering. One of such bank, without which this article goes incomplete is Axis Bank. Is it possible to do such transactions without the support from the bank? Definitely impossible. The banks named by the Lokayukta report are Hospet and Bellary branches of Axis Bank and

Couple of years back the same leading private bank had a client Shree Om Sai Nath Car On Rent Pvt ltd. This was a chain market company, which collected a huge amount from the public. Initially cheques were duly paid by the bank. Within a year the account was freezed by the court. The bank could have shown social responsibility and could have saved hard earned money of poor people.

The similar cases also been reported by Belgaum. Sri Sai Multi Service (SMS) was another fraud company involved in the chain marketing with a full banking support from the Axis Bank, collected a huge amount from the public through its account DDs and wannabe fraudster company was raided.

I hope you have not forgotten fraud happened in City Bank in Gurgaon. The main accused of the City Bank Fixed deposit scam Sanjay Gupta of Hero Corporate Services owned two firms G2S and BG finance company. These companies were registered as consulting firms but did not have any offices. Even then these companies had accounts with Axis Bank. Police seized Rs 20 Crores from their Axis Bank account. A company no needs to have an office to open an account with Axis Bank! Finally the state run SBI officials helped the police to find the kingpin of the scam

The fraudster’s relationship with the Axis Bank does not end here. A single google search will though a lot of news of fraud companies having accounts with the Axis Bank. Kadri Police of Mangalore arrested Pravin Shetty who is said to be partner of Global Index Investment Company and seized the account with the Axis Bank. The bank which opened the account of the fraudster company was mentioned and forgotten

These banks are target driven. The top executive put immense pressure on the sales executive. Sales personals bring such customers and accounts of the fraud companies get open in the bank based on the documents submitted by them. They even satisfy the KYC norms according to the present regulation. The will power of the banker to show some social responsibility and serve the society against such frauds can only prevent such fraud accounts. In don’t think you can expect it from private banks that are running behind the numbers.

ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಯ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಅಂತ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಇದೆ. ಅದರ ಸಾರಥಿ ಹೆಸರು ರವಿ ಬೆಳಗೆರೆ ಅಂತ. ಓಳ್ಳೆಯ ಗೌರವ ಇದೆ. ಆದರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಒಮ್ಮೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬರೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಅಷ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೀರಿಯಸ್ ಆಗಿ ಒದಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಾಣೆ. ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಮರುಕ್ಷಣವೇ ರಾಜ್ಯವೇ ಬದಲಾಗಿಬಡುವುದೋ ಎಂಬಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ಸೊಂಟದ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರ್ಯಾರೂ ಬದಲಾದಂತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಅವಾಗಾವಾಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪಾಪ ಬಡಪಾಯಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹುರುಳಿಲ್ಲದ ಆರೋಪ ಮಾಡಿ ಗಲ್ಲು ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಆಗುವಂತ ಅಪರಾಧ ಮಾಡಿರುವಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿಬಿಡುವುದು. ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹನೆಂಬ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಂತ್ರವಿಲ್ಲದ ಉಗುಳೇ ತುಂಬಿದ ಸಂಚಿಕೆ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಒದಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಬರೆಯದಿರಲು ನನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಫೇಸ್ಬುಕ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳ್ಳಂಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ರವಿ ಬೆಳಗೆರೆ ಸ್ಟೇಟಸ್- ಭಟ್ಟರು ವಿ.ಕ.ಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ 50 ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂ ಹಗರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇದು ಆವತ್ತಿನ ಹಾಯ್ ಮಾರುವ ಪಕ್ಕಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ಮಾತು ಎಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದದ್ದು ಒಳಗೇನೂ ಏನೋ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು 14 ರೂ. ದಂಡ ಮಾಡಿ ಹಾಯ್ ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ ನಂತರವೇ. ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಯಾರ್ಯಾರದೋ ಕಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗುವವಳ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಒದ್ದಾಡಿ ಅವಳನ್ನೇ ತಂಗಿ ಎಂದು ಒಂದು ಸರಕಾರಿ ಸೈಟ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನಂತೆ, ಅದರ ಬೆಲೆ 50 ಲಕ್ಷ ಅಂತೆ(ಹಾಗಂತ ಎಂದಿನಂತೆ ರವಿ ಪರಮಾನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ). ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ರ.ಬೆ ಗೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಳಮಳ ಎದ್ದು ಇಡೀ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ದಂಡ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಹೊಲಸು ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಆಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬಿತ್ಯಾದಿ ಆರೋಪ ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಏನಿಲ್ಲ, ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆತನಿಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟೊಂದು ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಆಡಿಸುವುದು ಕರತಾಮಲಕ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಯಡ್ಡಿ- ಶೋಭ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲ ಇವನ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಲಾಭಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಒಂದು ಸೈಟ್ಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಆ ರೀತಿ ತೊಂದರೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ? ಮೈಸುಗರ್ ಬಿಲ್ಡಿಂಗ್ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲೆ ಮನೆ ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

ಪದ್ಮನಾಗನಗರದ ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ಶ್ರೀನಗರದ ಕಿಟ್ಟಿ ಜೊತೆ ಮದುವೆ ಆದರೆ ಅದರೆ ಲೋಕೋದ್ಧಾರದ ಮದುವೆ. ಅದೇ ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಕಾಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಜೊತೆ ಮದುವೆ ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಲಾಭಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಆದ ಮದುವೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇಸರಿ ಪರಿವಾರದಿಂದ ಇದು ತಲೆಹಿಡುಕ ಕೆಲಸ ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಬೇರೆ ಸಟರ್ೀಫಿಕೇಟ್ ಬೇಕಂತೆ. ರವಿ ಬೆಳಗೆರೆ ಅಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವರು (?) ಈ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುವುದನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸಲಾಗದು. ಕಾಮ ಪ್ರೇಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪೆಗ್ ಹಾಕಿ ದಿನವಿಡೀ ಬರೆದು ಜನೋದ್ಧಾರ ಮಾಡುವವರಂತೆ ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡುವ ರವಿಗೆ ಈ ಮದುವೆ ಒಂದು ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಡೀಲ್ ಆಗಿ ಕಂಡಿದೆ. ಓ... ಇಂಥ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನೂ ನಾವು ಓದುತ್ತೇವೆ.

ಯಡ್ಡಿ ಶೋಭ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಾವುದೋ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಓಳ್ಳೆ ಮಾತು ಬರೆದದ್ದನ್ನು ಇಸ್ಟುದ್ದದ ರಾದ್ಧಾಂತ ಮಾಡುವವರು ಕಳೆದ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಿ ಧಣಿಗಳ ಕಾಲಿನ ಅದಿರು ಬೆರೆತ ಧೂಳು ಒರೆಸಿ ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಆಯಿತೆಂದು ಬಂದು ಕುಳಿತದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾವ್ಯಾರೂ ಮರೆತಿಲ್ಲ. ಬರುವ 30 ಸಾವಿರ ರೂ ಸಂಬಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಕೋಡಾ ಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗದಂತೆ. ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಕರಿಯಾಗುವ ವಾರಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತೇನು ಶಾಲೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಟ್ಟಬಹುದೇ?

ಹಿಂದುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ತಪ್ಪಂತೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಆತ ಸಮಾಜ ಘಾತುಕ! ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಮಾಜ ಘಾತುಕರನ್ನು ಹೀರೋಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದವರು ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರು! ಹಿಂದುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆಯಲು ಧೈರ್ಯ ಬೇಕು. ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹಗೆ ಆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಇತ್ತು, ಬರೆದ, ಜನ ಓದಿದರು ವಿ.ಕ.ವನ್ನು ನಂ 1 ಮಾಡಿದರು. ವಿ.ಕ ಹಿಂದುಗಳ ಪರವಾಗಿ ನಿಜ ಹೇಳದು, ಅದೂ ಇತರ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಂತೆ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಯೂಡೋ ಸೆಕ್ಯುಲಾರ್ ಅಂತ ಓಮ್ಮೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾದರೆ ಪುಕ್ಕಟ್ಟೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಓದುವವರಿರುವಿದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಹುಶ ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗೆ ಬರೆದರೂ ಅದೇ ರೀತಿ ಮೊನಚಾಗಿಯೇ ಅದೇ ತತ್ವದ ಮೇಲೇ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದೆ. ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿಯಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ್ನೊಂದು ಆಡುವ ಎರಡು ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಹಾವಂತೂ ಅಲ್ಲ.

ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಅಪಕ್ವ ಲೇಖನವೊಂದನ್ನು ಪುರಸೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾದರೂ ಏಕೆ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ. ವಿಶ್ವೇಶ್ವರ ಭಟ್ಟರು ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ನೀಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಬಿಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂತ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲೇ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಸಿಂಹ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಹಾಯ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಮಾರಾಟವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊದಲೇ ಆತನನ್ನು ಕಂಡರಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಸರು ಕೆಡಿಸಲು ಇದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಅವಕಾಶ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕೀತು?

ಮದುವೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹಾದರ ಎನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ ಹಾಯ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕೊನೆಯ ಸಂಚಿಕೆ ಓದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿ ಓದಲಾರದಷ್ಟು ಹೇಸಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

Hi, I am Uttara Kannada, one of the biggest districts of Karnataka, situated at the west of the state towards Arabian Sea. Karwar is the district head quarters which is south to Goa. I am essentially made up of the coastal belt at west, western forests in the middle inner lees rainy regions at east. I was one among a few districts of the country which has contributed to the Indian Freedom Movement. Ankola is well known for its contribution in non-cooperative movements. My beauty was once praised by Rabindranath Tagore when he visited Karwar.

I am very rich in natural resources. A umber of water falls, valleys, rivers, beaches are my assets. My people were spending happy life along with nature. Representatives of people and the governments of the state and the country felt jealous by looking at happiness that I was providing to my people. The State asked me to sacrifice something for the state. I scarified the beautiful forests of Supa for hydraulic power generation units. But the state was not satisfied it asked for some more nature of mine to be destroyed. Now this was the term of riverside of Gangavali. I thought it was my pleasure to help the state.

The government of India was observing me. It understood it can take anything from me in the name of development. It kept a nuclear bomb in my heart- in the middle of western forests- Kaiga. It made me to live with fear of death forever. Then it was the issue of national security. I never thought they could destroy the beauty of the coastal line. But they did it in the name of Sea Bird, a Naval Base. The people of the coastal regions lost their business- fishery. The people who gave space for refugees from Tibet became refugees in their own land.

My desires were very small. A train service from Hubli to Ankola. They told they can’t destroy more forests for this reason. Soon they cut down thousands of evergreen trees for electric line from Jogfalls to Hubli. They did it again in the name of betterment of state. But a railway was in the list of useful projects for the state.

Most of the power demand is answered by the power stations here along the rivers of Kali, Bedti, Sharavati and Kaiga atomic power stations. I didn’t ask for free electric power to all the houses here. I asked uninterrupted power supply to all the villages. Even today there is more load-shedding than any other place of Karnataka. There are villages without electric lines. State government owned electric board workers takes a week to repair the lines whenever there is a fault. But the state is busy in discussing establishing a thermal power plant at Tadri.

I’m proud of my children that are so intelligent. My name comes within top 5 in the list of examination results- 10th, 12th or CET. They asked for a medical college- there is no medical college here. They asked for a good engineering college. They are still made to go to Bangalore for higher studies. They asked for a university. Government did not hear in the noise of power generation stations. They requested for timely bus service to go to college from remote villages. The second hand buses which are abandoned in Bangalore were sent here.

There is a limit to my patience. State has to understand there is a limit to my tolerance. It is better if I’m answered before it goes to its extreme.

How to search Kannada in Google?

I always keep watching what my readers want and what they are looking for while entering the keyword in google search, why they land to my site. If my blog does not have an answer for them I try to answer to them. This is such a article.
Recently a visitor hit my blog looking for "how to search Kannada in google", "how to use google Kannada search". Here is a answer:
Go to google.co.in. Then click on Kannada which is given in the list of languages available, or directly go to Google Kannada. Then type what you are looking for in English. For example if you are looking for ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ just type 'uttara kannada jille' in the search box and it will show the options in Kannada as soon as you type. See the snap shot. Select the option if that is correct and hit search. If you don't get the word what exactly you want, you can type in the google transliterate and copy the Kannada word and paste in the search box. I don't think you never find it necessary to go for this. Once you get the word in search box, you are done. Pages matching with the Kannada words will be listed in the search result.

Long waiting is over! Google Lab has now came up with on screen Kannada Keyboard and enabled search option. This is the easiest of all Kannada Search. Similar search is also available in most of all Indian languages. No tutorial is required for this. Just use the mouse!

Kannada Online Radios

There are few Kannada online radios now available. I'm too addicted to online music stations. It is just because I need not to take the work of collecting the music files and framing a play list. I'm giving you the list of some of the online music stations in Kannada. I have listed them in my own priority considering the quality of music tracks they play, ease of use and so on.
1. Radio Girmit
I like this station most. Songs could be old or new but they play very nice songs. Play list selection could be appreciated. You will never get bored by hearing to this station. You can also hear to spacial programme 'e'-Haadu Yaarigaagi every Sunday by online-RJ Divya. She has a nice voice, the best voice heard after Vasanti Hariprakash. No advertise, the best in ease of use, available in 3 modes Popup the player, Winamp and itunes, RG players. Just go to its home page, I hope you will also get addicted to it.
2. Kannada Kasturi
It is also very good radio station. I was really confused in giving rank to this station as 1st or 2nd. But active nature of Girmit took 1st place. If you want to listen to the latest songs better choose this station. It is available in Winamp player file(.pls), ease to handle, no advertise. Just go to its home page. You can easily find the player.
3. Maja Madi
A radio station with a complete entertainment discussion forum. Play lists are good. But I don't like this site because they are not focused on music. In the home page you will feel like you are in maze and will be confused where to go to listen to the music. Even though musics tracks are selected cautiously it took 3rd place because of disturbance in the site. We are here only for music. 4. Kannada music online
A blogspot site. Track list are good. Available in three player formats. You can go to home page but you will again feel like stuck at maze. But you will be able to find out the player links, if you have patience. If not directly click here: Winamp player and Windows player. From this site you can download Kannada songs also.
5. Naanu
Its OK OK kind of radio. I have not get the home page of the radio. Don't know much about the radio station. You can listen to it by clicking here.

There are some other online stations like Surf Music and Inchara. They don't have their own radio station and play list. They just redirect to the players on Kannada Kasturi and Radio Girmit with lot of ads in their page. Avoid using them stick to originals.

Karnataka farmers to set a record: to take oath on organic farming

Farmers strike for seeds, bundh for subsidies, fight for loans.... these are very old stories. Now our farmers are going to set a different record. 50,000 farmers of Karnataka are taking oath on organic farming on 26Th January. What a great news!
We, Indians never considered farmers as the backbone of Indian economy. Even today, India might be exporting software, technology goods, ores to foreign countries, agriculture is the basic structure of our economy. But we never gave importance to it, nor government. They might have announced some benificial plans for farmers. But I don't think it has reached a true farmer. At the most it could reach political party workers.
Now farmers themselves taking a step forward. They are coming to Bangalore in their own expenditure to take oath on organic farming. They now know the importance of the organic farming. They are taking oath to not to depend on seeds of multinational companies, which has brought blood in their eyes a number of times. They are also taking oath to not to take suicide as their final option when their crops cheats them.
Scientist, Visionary, our beloved former president Abdul Kalam will be present at the event in front of the Vidhansoudha.
I did not saw media giving importance to such events. They will enter into farmers life only when a farmer commits suicide. Please open your eyes to such matters. Build a positive India. This post is based on a report published in Vijay Karnataka

Satyam and emergency: A real cartoon

No need to tell you Satyam story here again. Look at the photo. Ambulance, emergency number 108, then Satyam symbol- looks like a real cartoon. This photograph is of an ambulance of government of Karnataka, which the project was recently inaugurated. Satyam provides technology and call centre services for this service. Now Satyam is in need of service.

ನಾನು ಯಾವುದೋ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಬ್ಲಾಗರ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆದು ಲಿಂಕ್ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗೃಹ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ವಿ. ಎಸ್. ಆಚಾರ್ಯಯವರ ಬ್ಲಾಗ್ ಇದು. ನಿಜ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗೃಹ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಕೂಡ ಬ್ಲಾಗರ್. ಅಂತೂ ರಾಜಕಾರಿಣಿಗಳೂ, ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳೂ ಬ್ಲಾಗಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಸಂಗತಿಯೇ. ಅವರ ಬ್ಲಾಗ್ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು ಪಕ್ಕ ಜನಸಂಘದ ವಿಚಾರಧಾರೆಗಳು ನೆನಪಾದವು. ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಮುತ್ಸದ್ದಿಯಾದರೂ ಗೃಹ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕವರಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ನನ್ನ ವಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ. (ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಯಡ್ಯೂರಪ್ಪ ಇವರನ್ನೇ ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆ ಕೂಡ.) ಅದರೂ ಅವರ ಕೆಲವು ವಯಕ್ತಿಕ ವಿಚಾರ ಓದಿ ಇಂಥವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿರುವುದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಎನಿಸಿತು. ಒಂದಂತೂ ಸತ್ಯ- ಇಂಥ ರಾಜಕಾರಿಣಿಗಳು ಮೂಲ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಬರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇನೋ! ಹೀಗೇಕೆ ಹೇಳಿದೆನೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾದವರೆಂದರೆ ಮೊದಿಯೇ. ಅವರ ವೆಬ್ಸೈಟ್ ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿಯೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಲವಾರು ಸೈಟ್ ಗಳಿವೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮೋ (ನರೇಂದ್ರಮೋದಿ) ಲೀಗ್ ಒಂದು. ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿದಾಕ್ಷಣ ದೇಶ ಉದ್ಧಾರ ಆಗಿಬಿಡುವುದು, ಮುಂದಿನ ಸಲ ಇವರೇ ಗೆದ್ದು ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆನ್ನುವುದೂ ನನ್ನ ತರ್ಕವಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಭಾರತೀಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಿಣಿಗಳೂ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆನ್ನುವುದೇ ಹೊಸ ವಿಷಯ.

ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅದೇಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ಕ್ರಿಯಾತ್ಮಕ ಬ್ಲಾಗ್ ಇಡುವುದು ಸಾದ್ಯವಾಯಿತೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಲೇಖನ ಟೈಪ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಸ್ಟೆನೋ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ಬ್ಲಾಗಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಯಾರನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವಾದರೂ ಪುರಸೊತ್ತು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬ್ಲಾಗಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆಲ್ಲ ಅದೇ ಬ್ಲಾಗರ್ಸ್ಗಳಿಗೆಲ್ಲ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ.

Save Electricity, Save Environment

World Environment Day special

Uttara Kannada, a green district located in Western coastal region of Karnataka has many power stations including one nuclear power plant. The major hydro electric power stations include Gerusoppa, Supa, Kadra and Kodasalli.. The whole Supa sub district is submerged due to Kali reservoir. Thousands of hectares of forests have been lost during these projects. Thousands of acres of forest cut down to build Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant. Hundred of acres of green forests were vanished for high tension electric lines to supply power to nearby cities(See Press release by Save Kali Movement). The people of Uttara Kannada successfully opposed Tadri thermal power plant to get cancelled, which could be harmful to both flora and fauna of this region. Already this district is lighting millions of houses.

But,  there is no proper power supply to this district. There is a minimum of 6 hours official load shedding in the summer. There was no power for weeks even in major villages. There are number of villages without power supply from the state electricity board till date.

I’m sure, if you save a little power in your daily life it is more than enough to light these houses, because their electricity demand is very less. The power that could be saved by common men in household usage at Bangalore city can light the whole district for weeks. Also we can check some more new power plants which will spoil our environment. 

To save power and save environment follow these tips:

Air conditioners: Check and clean the air conditioners filter once a month; make sure the air conditioning unit is the proper size for the room it is cooling; locate the air conditioner on the north or east side of a house in a shady area; ventilate the house's attic to reduce heat build-up; install ceiling fans to improve air circulation.

Dishwashers: Wash only a full load; turn off drying cycle, open door to air dry dishes.

Washing machines and dryers: Use only with a full load; use warm or cold water, reserving hot water use only for heavily soiled clothes; use only full loads for the dryer and if a second load is necessary, dry that load immediately after the first to retain as much heat as possible; clean lint filter before each load.

Computers: Turn off computers when not in use or set the computer to energy-saving mode.

Lights: Replace incandescent bulbs with screw-in fluorescent bulbs, which use 75 per cent less electricity and last at least 8 times longer; turn lights off when not needed; install light dimmers or photoelectric switches that automatically turn off lights during daylight or install timers to control use of lights; for lights used for home security, install motion detectors so lights come on only when motion is detected.

New appliances: Replace aging appliances with new, more energy-efficient models when possible.

Ovens and hobs: Use microwave instead of oven where possible; food in glass dishes can be cooked at lower temperature; preheating oven is usually unnecessary; on the stove top cook with covered pans and match pan size to the size of the burner.

Refrigerators: Check door seals to make sure there are no air leaks; clean condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator; keep refrigerator away from oven or dishwasher and give the unit breathing room; turn thermostat down to 3°C (37°F); turn on energy saver switch.

Water heaters: Use thermostats and timer controls to regulate your central heating and hot water supply wherever possible; lower the hot water heating setting to 50 to 55°C (120 to 130°F); insulate the water heater and any exposed hot water pipes; use low-flow shower heads. (Tips ref: Microsoft ® Encarta ® 2006. © 1993-2005 Microsoft Corporation)
