Google Transliterate in Kannada: Search, Translitarate and Blog in Kannada

Now you can type whatever you want, in English and you can get it in Kannada fonts using Google translitaration:

You can toggle between Kannada and English very easily by using Ctrl + g. It is easier than any other Kannada software. But you should have internet connection for this. If you typed Kannada using Nudi, Baraha or like tools, typing in Google translates will be much easier job. You can type in Kannada without the knowledge of any such software. What all you need is internet connection, knowledge of keyboard and Kannada fonts to see whether it is correct. Enjoy typing in Kannada.

You can also type using on screen Kannada keyboard. Type and select letter you typed and place the cursor over it. You will get the options and the last option will be Edit. Select it. Then in edit tool bar click on "show keyboard."

Remember, it is only a transliteration tool. You can not translate from English or any other language to Kannada.

Long waiting is over! Google Lab has now came up with on screen Kannada Keyboard and enabled search option. This is the easiest of all Kannada Search. Similar search is also available in most of all Indian languages. No tutorial is required for this. Just in the use of mouse! Read this article.

First Dollar from Google Adsense

I had a dream, without investment I should earn money before I finish my graduation. Thanks to Google, it made my dream come true.

I started hunting for Adsense account in early March this year. I didn't get an account for a month for the reason that the address I had given was not valid. I wanted my address to be of my village; even the Google search would not return the result for the search of this unknown village. Later I got the account for the same address.

Then I started trying to put the ads in my Wordpress blog Sumsumne. I got html codes and tried a lot to insert it into my blog. Later I came to know Wordpress templates won’t support this. I had to subscribe for RSS by paying the charges, then only can upload my own template. It was not what I wanted.

I knew, blogger is supporting Adsense as it is also a Google product. I created my new blog in blogger and started posting into it. It took about one month to get a first click on the ad. I got first dollar in my Ad sense account.

That was June 25^th; I had just finished the last exam of my engineering graduation.

When I was in elementary school the telephone was a white elephant. I have seen my mother covered the telephone with clothes. I was not allowed to talk much on the phone. It was used for very short and valuable conversations. Neighboring towns were treated as long distances and they were STD calls. Call to some more distant place was further troublesome. It was a ‘trunk call’. We had to call the telephone exchange and book the line. Trunk calls were very costly and many liked to write letters and telegrams.

What’s now?

Today we have forgotten what a trunk call is.

Not even a neighboring town, the whole state is now local. Leave the inter circle calls the whole India is now at 1 Re distance!

No telegrams now, SMS reaches the remote places where even telegram couldn't reach.

Go again few years back.

Mobile phones were there with rich people staying in big cities. They were paying about Rs 10 for incoming calls. Out going was out of reach.

Zamaana changed in a high speed manner!

Prepaid plans were introduced. Charging for incoming calls became outdated. Call rates came down to earth. SMS were charged a negligible amount. Mobiles became lot more than a communicating instrument. Young couples were allowed to talk at very little amount using couple connections, sometimes even free of cost.

Now!? You can even get paid for receiving calls. Virgin mobile announced it will give Rs 0.1 per 60 seconds for receiving calls.

Is this Naked photo of Aishwarya Rai is real?

You might be curious to know whether the mail you had received or blogposts with this Naked photo of Aishwarya Rai, which claims it to be real is true or not.

The text in the photo reads: "It is not a computer generated photograph. It was published in Penthouse magazine 2004, and she took USD 4.5 million for the shoot".  Though this photo looks like real one, it is definitely a  fake photo. One of main reason is that there is no Aishwrya’s name in Penthouse pet’s list. Some people argue that this is real picture referring to Wikipedia, but remember Wikipedia can be edited by common readers like us.  Some claims that she was the pet of Feb 2004 and Penthouse tells that there was no pet for the month Feb 2004 in its website.

The person who worked on this photograph need to be appreciated. But while choosing the naked photograph he has done a mistake. Aish’s hands are not that much short like one which you can see in this naked picture. The experts tell that the mixing work can not be seen easily because the work is done along the necklace to hide any line or marks of editing.

Miss you all, my dear friends

It is a pure personal memory I am sharing with you. It is about a fantastic journey of 4 years in Bangalore and in MVJ College of Engineering. October 25th, 2004 was the first day of our engineering life. We all came together, became friends, fought with each other, witnessed love, saw affection, showed our unity in fighting with lecturers, went on strike against the college, we enjoyed, made merry and now departing with a heavy heart.

We were the batch of 28. We missed few friends due to useless VTU rule 'year back' for carrying more than 4 subjects, also we got new friends due to the same rules. The seniors became our classmates. One such friend who lost his one year, was always telling stories of other friends naming them with 'Shole' characters. He refused to sign on a letter signed by all of us against a lecturer just because that lecturer was giving him good marks in internal exams. The same lectures gave him NSSR and left the college. We missed another friend, who was always carrying a script for never ending TV serial with full of his family problems, sentiments and sex.

We were representing one of the feature of the country- unity in diversity. Different in cultures, we were loving each others. We had a great Krishna Bhakthe, a pure vegan, who followed each and every sentences told in ISKCON temple. She was a good friend of a guy from completely different culture, Muzzu, who never missed his Friday prayers, who was always dying for non vegetarian dishes.

Bindu had a mixture of Indo-US Culture, a great believer of God- only during exam and results!

Deepak a.k.a Deal Machcha, a good dealer of any thing in Bangalore from cabs for a trip to mobile phone.

Gaurav, Guruji of everything, was a expert in all matters from study materials to porn sites.

Karthik, my ultimate room mate from beginning to end was a live cartoon.

Dirty joke expert Raju Kaju is now an IITan Raju. We are proud of you!

All of us  had a common thought; we had done a great mistake by taking admission in this college. We never been proud of our college or its location at outskirts of the city where it was situated, but we were always proud of our classmates.

We fought against the management of the college; we argued with the director, we made few bad lecturers to say goodbye to the college, and few others to stay back. We had unity; it gave us strength to go against anything that is bad for us.

We had great lecturers in our college. Our beloved HoD, Dr Manohar Shinde was the great scholar we had ever seen. Unfortunately we missed him in the last semester as he moved to industry from teaching. He was the most respected person for his knowledge and his friendly nature. Class became more joyful when our seniors started their career as lecturers. Adithya was a good friend, guide and lecturer. We were calling him 'Sir' outside the college, 'Adi' inside the class!! Let us pray god; he may get enough strength to come out of the grief of death of his father.

Friends, wish you all a successful life. Love you and miss you all...

Save Electricity, Save Environment

World Environment Day special

Uttara Kannada, a green district located in Western coastal region of Karnataka has many power stations including one nuclear power plant. The major hydro electric power stations include Gerusoppa, Supa, Kadra and Kodasalli.. The whole Supa sub district is submerged due to Kali reservoir. Thousands of hectares of forests have been lost during these projects. Thousands of acres of forest cut down to build Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant. Hundred of acres of green forests were vanished for high tension electric lines to supply power to nearby cities(See Press release by Save Kali Movement). The people of Uttara Kannada successfully opposed Tadri thermal power plant to get cancelled, which could be harmful to both flora and fauna of this region. Already this district is lighting millions of houses.

But,  there is no proper power supply to this district. There is a minimum of 6 hours official load shedding in the summer. There was no power for weeks even in major villages. There are number of villages without power supply from the state electricity board till date.

I’m sure, if you save a little power in your daily life it is more than enough to light these houses, because their electricity demand is very less. The power that could be saved by common men in household usage at Bangalore city can light the whole district for weeks. Also we can check some more new power plants which will spoil our environment. 

To save power and save environment follow these tips:

Air conditioners: Check and clean the air conditioners filter once a month; make sure the air conditioning unit is the proper size for the room it is cooling; locate the air conditioner on the north or east side of a house in a shady area; ventilate the house's attic to reduce heat build-up; install ceiling fans to improve air circulation.

Dishwashers: Wash only a full load; turn off drying cycle, open door to air dry dishes.

Washing machines and dryers: Use only with a full load; use warm or cold water, reserving hot water use only for heavily soiled clothes; use only full loads for the dryer and if a second load is necessary, dry that load immediately after the first to retain as much heat as possible; clean lint filter before each load.

Computers: Turn off computers when not in use or set the computer to energy-saving mode.

Lights: Replace incandescent bulbs with screw-in fluorescent bulbs, which use 75 per cent less electricity and last at least 8 times longer; turn lights off when not needed; install light dimmers or photoelectric switches that automatically turn off lights during daylight or install timers to control use of lights; for lights used for home security, install motion detectors so lights come on only when motion is detected.

New appliances: Replace aging appliances with new, more energy-efficient models when possible.

Ovens and hobs: Use microwave instead of oven where possible; food in glass dishes can be cooked at lower temperature; preheating oven is usually unnecessary; on the stove top cook with covered pans and match pan size to the size of the burner.

Refrigerators: Check door seals to make sure there are no air leaks; clean condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator; keep refrigerator away from oven or dishwasher and give the unit breathing room; turn thermostat down to 3°C (37°F); turn on energy saver switch.

Water heaters: Use thermostats and timer controls to regulate your central heating and hot water supply wherever possible; lower the hot water heating setting to 50 to 55°C (120 to 130°F); insulate the water heater and any exposed hot water pipes; use low-flow shower heads. (Tips ref: Microsoft ® Encarta ® 2006. © 1993-2005 Microsoft Corporation)
